Dutch names

Dutch names are often derived from Latinist and French names. For example, with the Latin name Aabraham, translated into French Abraham, becomes Bram in Dutch. For the French name Adrien, this one, translates as Adryen, or Aderiaen in Dutch.

You will notice that among the Dutch, there are compounds names, with the word "van", which links either to the origin of the family, or to its belonging to a profession or to the particularity of the person (Ludwing Van Beethoven, Van Der Mulen, Arminn Van Bureen...). This is very present in the heart of the Netherlands. Unlike France, we use "Duc de...", which is a sign of nobility and power.
